No.

Hatvanki is a script, not a language. The language being written was still Sindhi. Just as English can be written in cursive or print, Sindhi could historically be written in multiple scripts.

== Relationship with Khudabadi ==

Hatvanki is closely related to the historic Khudabadi script script. Some scholars consider Hatvanki to be a merchant shorthand or cursive variant of Khudabadi rather than an entirely separate script. Different trading communities also developed their own slight regional variations.

== Why did it disappear? ==

Several factors contributed to its decline:

* Partition of India (1947), which displaced many Sindhi trading communities.
* Standardization of Sindhi education:
* In Sindh, Sindhi became standardized with original Sindhi Script.
* In India, Sindhi came to be written in both Sindhi Script and Devanagari scripts.
* Modern accounting systems and typewriters/computers did not support Hatvanki.
* New generations were no longer taught the script.

Today, very few people can read or write Hatvanki.
